UCSD vs. NYU vs. Cal Poly SLO
« on: March 16, 2010, 11:07:34 pm »

Hi!

I'm trying not to let money be the deciding factor in my decision as to which of the above schools I would like to attend. For all I was accepted as a Sociology major, and will probably either end up minoring in Pre-Law or Pre-Med, as I am either going to pursue a career as a lawyer or a psychiatrist.

For the major that I have chosen and my future career plans, which school would be the best choice?

It should be noted that I am a resident of Northern California and that I was offered admission to NYU through the Liberal Studies program.

Thanks so much for your input! It's keeping me up!

Academically, the best choice would be UCSD.  For financially reasons, Cal Poly SLO.  You should visit UCSD and Cal Poly SLO if you haven't already.  I don't know much about NYU, sorry.

If you don't want to major in biological/chemical/physical sciences, don't go to UCSD.

If you don't want to be an engineer or an architect, don't got to CalPoly SLO.

NYU is specialized in humanities: buisiness, international relations, prelaw, etc. For physcology, NYU would be superior.
