So I am applying to basically all of the UCs and then Cal Poly SLO, since I want to go into Psychology and Architecture (the most impacted majors for each of my schools) should I just go into an unpopular major and then change it back later, just so I can get in?
Someone I know is doing this, but I wonder if it will really affect your chances of getting in. Also, is it hard to change back later? Is this a good idea? Are you doing it?
(btw I'm probably not going to do that, but I'm considering it because everyone else is doing it)
Anecdotally, I've heard it worked for a classmate of mine for getting into the local state school despite being a total slacker. However, transferring can be a pain, especially if it means going from different schools within the university. If possible, consider applying undecided, but I wouldn't risk lying about where your interests lay.
